Disease / pest Damage stage Management / Chemical Organic
  • The disease affected leaves becomes small in size accompanied by downward curling.‌‌‌
  • The leaves may fall off in case of sever attack.
  • The disease usually spreads through insect vectors such as thrips and aphids etc.
  • Control of insect vectors by spraying the crop with Dimethoate (Rogor -30 EC) or Monocrotophos (Monocil) @ 1 ml per litre of water indirectly helps to check the spread of this disease.

Disease / pest Damage stage Management / Chemical Organic
  • It is a serious disease of brinjal seedlings and mainly occurs in nursery bed.
  • The disease infected seedlings rot at ground level and then the plants fall over ground. The seedlings die in patches.

  • The seed bed should be treated with Formalin before sowing of seeds.
  • The seeds should be treated without water (30 minutes at 520 C) or Cerasan or Agrosan G.N. before sowing of seed.
  • The seedlings in the nursery should be sprayed with any fungicides at a regular interval.

Disease / pest Damage stage Management / Chemical Organic
  • Thrips responsible for transmitting ‘leafcurl or bokdyya’ disease.
  • The damaged plant tissues initially become whitish, later brown & ultimately dry. As a result, leaves curl & become small. Such symptoms locally known as “Murda” or “Bokadya”.
  • In extreme cases the shoot hardly develops and the leaves fall off. The adults and nymphs also attack on buds and flowers causing malformation.
  • While sowing in the nursery treat the seed with carbosulfan 30 gm + trichoderma 5 gm/Kg seed.
  • Use carbosulfan 30 gm to 40 gm or phorate 20 gm in the nursery beds.
  • At the time of transplanting in main fields deep the roots in immidacloprid 10 ml or carbosulfan 30 ml + trichoderma 50 gms in 10 lits of water.
  • Spray with 5% NSKE.
  • Spraying with 0.02% phophamidon or 0.03% dimethoate or 0.05% monocrotophos as soon as infestation is noticed.

Disease / pest Damage stage Management / Chemical Organic
  • Young larvae feed on flower buds and young pod by making a circular hole. Later, the larvae feed on seeds usually with its head inside the pod and rest of the body outside.
  • A circular hole is noticed at the base of the pedicel. Premature dropping of flower and pods. Fruit turns to white colour.

  • Spray Rynaxypyr 20 EC @ 0.25ml/lit or spinosad 45SC @ 0. 12 ml/lit or chlorpyriphos 20 EC  @2.5ml/lit of water.
  • Spray endosulfan 35 EC @2ml/lit or carbaryl 50 WP 2 g/lit or B.thuringiensis 2 g/lit.
  • B.t. product @ 500 g/lit or Carbaryl 50 WP @ 12.
